Old Stagecoach Road North - Final Design

Design plans are 90% complete. Final design plans cannot be completed until the City finishes its review of the intersection options, which is expected to continue through the end of the year. Additional project work was approved in September to update plans and revise the project alignment. PEC utility lines are expected to remain above ground. Right-of-way acquisition is nearly complete, with the exception of one property still on hold at the City's direction.

Old Stagecoach Road - Final Design

Design remains at 95% completion. The revised final design was submitted this Summer. Construction bidding is dependent on the acquisition of four parcels, a decision regarding the Vybe Trail width and a decision regarding utility placement.

Overview

The City of Kyle is improving a 2.2-mile stretch of Old Stagecoach Road North and Old Stagecoach Road. Funded by the 2022 Road Bond, the project focuses on roadway widening and reconstruction from Veterans Drive (RM 150) along Old Stagecoach Road North and Old Stagecoach Road. Old Stagecoach Road North will become a four-lane roadway, while Old Stagecoach Road will be widened to three lanes. To accelerate delivery, both segments of the project will be bid and constructed independently.

2022 Road Bond Update

Per City Council direction on July 7, 2026, updated traffic studies are underway to reevaluate intersections throughout the City of Kyle. Pedestrian facilities are also being evaluated. Based on the analysis, Council has decided the intersection of Center Street and Old Stagecoach Road will remain a 1×1 roundabout. Council has made decisions on six of the 12 intersections under review, with recommendations for the remaining intersections pending Council approval. Due to these ongoing evaluations, current plans and project timelines are subject to change. Updated construction timelines are coming soon.

  • The Old Stagecoach Road Improvement Project will improve approximately 2.2 miles of Old Stagecoach Road North and Old Stagecoach Road to reduce traffic congestion, enhance safety, and improve overall traffic flow. Old Stagecoach Road North will be expanded to a four-lane roadway, while Old Stagecoach Road will be widened to three lanes. Two new intersection improvements will be constructed at the intersection of Six Creeks Boulevard and Old Stagecoach Road North, and at the intersection of Center Street and Old Stagecoach Road. 

  • To accelerate delivery, the project will be constructed in independent segments: 

    • Old Stagecoach Road North: approximately 0.50 miles from Six Creeks Boulevard to Veterans Drive 

    • Old Stagecoach Road: approximately 1.02 miles from Center Street to Six Creeks Boulevard 

    Together, these segments improve a key transportation corridor that connects nearby residential neighborhoods to major roadways, enhancing safety, mobility, and overall traffic flow. 

  • The planned improvements include: 

    • Reconstructing and widening the roadway to improve traffic flow and accommodate future growth 

    • Constructing intersection improvements at Six Creeks Boulevard and Old Stagecoach Road, and Center Street and Old Stagecoach Road to enhance safety and traffic operations 

    • New pedestrian routes to improve safety and mobility for all users 

    • Culvert upgrades and new curb and gutter construction, helping to reduce flooding and protect the roadway 

  • The Old Stagecoach Road corridor currently faces traffic congestion, safety concerns, and drainage challenges due to increased traffic volumes and aging infrastructure. These improvements are needed to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and address flood-prone areas, ensuring the roadway can meet both current and future transportation needs for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. 

  • The Old Stagecoach Road Improvement Project is funded through the City of Kyle's 2022 Road Bond Program (Proposition A), approved by Kyle voters in November 2022.   • Preliminary analysis began in 2023. Kyle City Council opted to move all three segments into design and construction independently to accelerate delivery. Segment timelines are as follows: 

    • Old Stagecoach Road North: Design is ongoing and construction is anticipated Fall 2026 through Fall 2027. 

    • Old Stagecoach Road: Design is complete, and all right-of-way has been secured, pending four parcel dedications. Construction is anticipated for Fall 2026 through Fall 2027.  

  • Because this project covers 1.58 miles across two segments, impacts will vary by location and phase of construction. Residents and drivers can expect lane reductions, detour routes at key intersections, and construction equipment along the corridor for an extended period. During roundabout construction at Six Creeks Boulevard, temporary traffic control measures including flagging operations will be in place. Property and driveway access will be maintained throughout construction. The City will communicate segment-specific updates through posted signage and KyleRoadBonds.com as each phase progresses.
