Design remains 95% complete. On October 20, 2026, City Council directed the project team to move forward with a traffic signal at Bunton Creek Road and Lehman Road instead of the previously proposed intersection design. Three other intersections are still being evaluated.
Final plans were partially submitted, but final approval and the bidding process depend on completing the remaining intersection reviews. AT&T utility relocation is complete, and additional right-of-way acquisition depends on the outcome of the remaining intersection evaluations.
Overview
This project will improve mobility and reduce congestion in Northeast Kyle by extending Lehman Road northeast from Bunton Creek Road to Dacy Lane as a four-lane roadway and extending Kyle Parkway to connect with the new segment.
2022 Road Bond Update
Per City Council direction on July 7, 2026, updated traffic studies are underway to reevaluate intersections throughout the City of Kyle. Pedestrian facilities are also being evaluated. Based on the analysis, Council has approved a signalized intersection at Lehman Road and Bunton Creek Road. Council has made decisions on six of the 12 intersections under review, with recommendations for the remaining intersections pending Council approval. Due to these ongoing evaluations, current plans and project timelines are subject to change. Updated construction timelines are coming soon.

The City of Kyle has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade, with new residential communities and commercial businesses expanding rapidly on the east side of town. The current roadway network cannot accommodate the growing volume of traffic from drivers who rely on it as a critical east-west connection. The project will address this demand by constructing new roadway capacity, intersection improvements to address traffic flow and safety, drainage improvements, and new pedestrian routes to improve safety and mobility for all users, as well as trees and landscaping.

Preliminary analysis began in 2024. Design is nearing completion, and the project is preparing to move into the contractor selection phase, during which qualified contractors will submit construction proposals for City review. Following contractor selection and City approval, construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 and be completed in Winter 2027.

Because this project involves new roadway construction, right-of-way acquisition is required in some areas. The City works closely with property owners along the alignment to keep them informed of the project's status. Where right-of-way is needed, the City will work with property owners to purchase the land through a fair and transparent process, including independent appraisals to determine fair market value.
