Summer 2026

Design remains at 95% completion. Final plans were partially submitted on June 30, 2026. Bid advertising is anticipated for late Summer 2026 but may be placed on hold pending the City Council's intersection analysis. AT&T utility relocation is complete, and right-of-way clearance is anticipated to be completed at the end of Summer 2026.

This project will improve mobility and reduce congestion in Northeast Kyle by extending Lehman Road northeast from Bunton Creek Road to Dacy Lane as a four-lane roadway and extending Kyle Parkway to connect with the new segment.

2022 Road Bond Update

Per City Council direction on July 7, 2026, we are conducting updated traffic studies to reevaluate intersections throughout the City of Kyle. A recommendation will be provided once updated data has been collected and analyzed. Pedestrian facility is also being evaluated. Due to these ongoing evaluations, current plans are subject to change.

As traffic demands continue to increase in Kyle, the City is dedicated to providing safe travel, reducing time spent in traffic, and improving mobility for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The project will extend Lehman Road northeast from Bunton Creek Road to Dacy Lane as a four-lane minor arterial roadway and extend Kyle Parkway to connect with the new segment of Lehman Road. The total length of the new roadway will cover approximately 1.3 miles. Improvements will include four two-lane intersection improvements at Kyle Parkway and Dacy Lane, Kyle Parkway and Lehman Road, Lehman Road and Bunton Creek Road, and Lehman Road and Dacy Lane.

  • The City of Kyle has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade, with new residential communities and commercial businesses expanding rapidly on the east side of town. The current roadway network cannot accommodate the growing volume of traffic from drivers who rely on it as a critical east-west connection. The project will address this demand by constructing new roadway capacity, intersection improvements to address traffic flow and safety, drainage improvements, and new pedestrian routes to improve safety and mobility for all users, as well as trees and landscaping. 

  • The Kyle Parkway and Lehman Road Extension Project is funded through the City of Kyle's 2022 Road Bond Program (Proposition A), approved by Kyle voters in November 2022. Proposition A authorized $294.4 million in funding to construct, expand, and upgrade roadways and infrastructure across the city, with eight roadway projects totaling 10.3 miles.   • Preliminary analysis began in 2024. Design is nearing completion, and the project is preparing to move into the contractor selection phase, during which qualified contractors will submit construction proposals for City review. Following contractor selection and City approval, construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 and be completed in Winter 2027. 

  • Because this project involves new roadway construction, right-of-way acquisition is required in some areas. The City works closely with property owners along the alignment to keep them informed of the project's status. Where right-of-way is needed, the City will work with property owners to purchase the land through a fair and transparent process, including independent appraisals to determine fair market value.
