Bebee Road (West) – Construction

Construction on Bebee Road (West) continues along the future alignment between Republic Drive and Dacy Lane. Activities specific to this segment include roadway embankment construction, base preparation, and installation of stormwater drainage culverts. Utility coordination and drainage improvements are ongoing to support the integration of this segment with the Kohlers corridor.

Recent progress includes embankment work near the future Vybe Trail and lighting conduit installation. Upcoming work will focus on base course placement between existing Bebee Road and Republic Drive, installation of curb and gutter and sidewalks, additional drainage stabilization using rock riprap, and continued bridge-related work at Denton Creek.

Bebee Road (East) – Final Design

The design plans were submitted and review was complete in January. The team is completing final coordination related project limit revisions before everything is fully finalized.

Temporary Closure

Flagging Operation (Monday & Tuesday)

Starting Monday, April 27 and going until Tuesday, April 28 a portion of Bebee Road, between the I-35 frontage road and Fountain Grove Drive, will be reduced to a one-way flagging operation in place for 2022 Road Bond construction work.

Drivers should be aware that the work requires PEC (Pedernales Electric Cooperative) utility crossing to install electric lines beneath the road. Additionally, the flagging operation and closures may cause delays. We encourage drivers to take alternative routes if possible, during this time.

Work hours will be 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment and drive with caution.

Bebee Road Eastbound Closure (Wednesday - Friday)

Starting Wednesday, April 29 and going until Friday, May 1 the I-35 northbound frontage road traffic will not be allowed to turn right on to Bebee Rd., with a detour through Windy Hill in place, for 2022 Road Bond construction work. Traffic in the westbound direction will continue to operate on Bebee Road.

Drivers should be aware that the work requires PEC (Pedernales Electric Cooperative) utility crossing to install electric lines beneath the road. Additionally, the flagging operation and closures may cause delays. We encourage drivers to take alternative routes if possible, during this time.

Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment and drive with caution.

Two Voter-Approved Road Bond Projects Underway on East of I-35

July 18, 2025

The City of Kyle recently began construction on two significant road improvement projects, the extension of Kohlers Crossing and the widening of Bebee Road, as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program. These initiatives, with a combined investment of over $130 million, aim to alleviate traffic congestion, improve east-west connectivity, and support the city's rapid growth. Both projects will be completed in multiple segments, with the first phases of construction already underway. The projects were approved by voters in November 2022 and are two of eight planned transportation projects intended to enhance the city's overall transportation network.

City of Kyle to Break Ground on Two Critical Road Bond Projects East of I-35

July 10, 2025

The City of Kyle is holding a ceremonial groundbreaking on July 17 to mark the start of two major road improvement projects: the extension of Kohlers Crossing and the widening of Bebee Road. Both projects, which are part of the voter-approved 2022 Road Bond Program, are located east of I-35 and are designed to improve traffic flow and connectivity between the east and west sides of the city. The Kohlers Crossing extension will create a direct route to Seton Hospital, while the Bebee Road project will expand the road to four lanes and add a new roundabout at its intersection with Kohlers Crossing to enhance safety and traffic efficiency. These are the second and third projects from the bond to begin construction, following the extension of Marketplace Avenue, which is set to open later this summer.
