BEBEE ROAD
West Segment Limits: From IH 35 Northbound Frontage Road to Sunlight Boulevard
East Segment Limits: From Sunlight Boulevard to east of S Goforth Road
Bebee Road Closure
Beginning Wednesday, June 17, and continuing through Saturday, October 31, Bebee Road will be temporarily closed at IH-35 as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured through the new IH-35/Kohlers Crossing intersection and along the Kohlers Crossing extension, reconnecting with Bebee Road west of Republic Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic.
Access to Lakeside Crossing from Bebee Road will remain open during this phase of construction.
The work being done on Bebee Road includes widening it from two lanes to four with a center turn lane, the addition of drainage, curbs, and sidewalks along both sides.
Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Please follow all posted traffic control devices, watch for construction crews and equipment, and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.
Project Updates
Summer 2026
Bebee Road (West) – Construction
Construction continues along the future Bebee Road alignment between Republic Drive and Dacy Lane, with work focused on roadway, utility, and drainage improvements within the corridor. Ongoing activities include waterline installation toward Bunton Branch Creek, Astound conduit installation between IH-35 and the roundabout, utility coordination, and continued roadway preparation. The Kohlers-to-Bebee connection remains open as part of the temporary detour route to maintain traffic through the construction area.
Upcoming work includes storm sewer installation and utility reconstruction along Bebee Road, drainage stabilization, and continued roadway improvements supporting the future connection between Bebee Road and the Kohlers corridor.
Bebee Road (East) – Final Design
The design is 95% complete. The tie-in location has been finalized, and an updated schedule for the final construction documents (the 100% PS&E package) is expected soon.
Overview
West segment: Under construction, this project will realign the sharp curves and add capacity to a 1-mile stretch of Bebee Road between northbound frontage road of IH 35 and Sunlight Boulevard with a roundabout at the intersection of the new Kohlers Crossing and Bebee Road.
East segment: Approximately 2 miles of a new four-lane minor arterial roadway will be constructed from Sunlight Boulevard to east of S. Goforth Road, along with new roundabouts at the intersection of Bebee Road & Dacy Lane.
2022 Road Bond Update
Per City Council direction on July 7, 2026, we are conducting updated traffic studies to reevaluate intersections throughout the City of Kyle. A recommendation will be provided once updated data has been collected and analyzed. Pedestrian facility is also being evaluated. Kyle has experienced unprecedented growth during the past decade, especially on the east side where new residential and commercial developments continue to expand. The current roadway cannot handle today's traffic volumes and is expected to see even greater demand in the future. The Bebee Road improvements will enhance safety and circulation with the addition of intersection improvements, sidewalks, landscaping, and drainage improvements, helping the City manage growth while maintaining a high quality of life for residents.
