IH-35 NB Frontage Rd and Bebee Rd Closure
On Wednesday, Nov. 4th ,the right lane of the northbound I-35 frontage road at the Bebee Road intersection will be closed as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.
This temporary closure is necessary to begin paving operations on the future right turn lane, and the nearby section of road where Bebee Road intersects the frontage road. Motorists may experience traffic delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible during the operation.
Work is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Drivers are asked to follow all traffic signs, watch for crews and equipment and drive with caution through the work zone.
Bebee Road Closure Extended
The temporary closure of Bebee Road at IH-35 has been extended through November. The closure began Wednesday, June 17, as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured through the new IH-35/Kohlers Crossing intersection and along the Kohlers Crossing extension, reconnecting with Bebee Road west of Republic Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic.
Access to Lakeside Crossing from Bebee Road will remain open during this phase of construction.
Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Please follow all posted traffic control devices, watch for construction crews and equipment, and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

Bebee Road (West) – Construction
Construction continues along the Bebee Road corridor, with crews working on roadway, utility, drainage and lighting improvements. Current work includes installing a waterline toward Bunton Branch Creek, where it will connect to the proposed bridge, installing electrical wiring, placing curbs and gutters and installing underground conduit for new roadway lighting between IH-35 and the roundabout. Sidewalk construction from the roundabout to Republic Drive is complete. The Kohlers-to-Bebee section remains open to traffic as a detour from Bebee Road at the IH-35 frontage road.
Upcoming work includes placing large rocks around the 24-inch drainage pipe to help prevent erosion, installing underground concrete foundations for new pedestrian and roadway lights between the roundabout and bridge and paving Bebee Road. Paving will include preparing the road surface and laying new asphalt. Construction between the roundabout and Sunlight Boulevard is still awaiting approval.
Construction is ongoing, and the project team continues to monitor progress and make schedule adjustments as needed.
Bebee Road (East) – Final Design
Design is 95% complete. The final design plans are still being developed and depend on approval of additional project work and the City Council’s ongoing intersection evaluation, which is expected to continue through Winter 2026. Right-of-way efforts are ongoing.
Overview
West segment: Under construction, this project will realign the sharp curves and add capacity to a 1-mile stretch of Bebee Road between northbound frontage road of IH 35 and Sunlight Boulevard with a roundabout at the intersection of the new Kohlers Crossing and Bebee Road.
East segment: Approximately 2 miles of a new four-lane minor arterial roadway will be constructed from Sunlight Boulevard to east of S. Goforth Road.
2022 Road Bond Update
Per City Council direction on July 7, 2026, updated traffic studies are underway to reevaluate intersections throughout the City of Kyle. Pedestrian facilities are also being evaluated. Council has made decisions on six of the 12 intersections under review, with recommendations for the remaining intersections pending Council approval. Due to these ongoing evaluations, current plans and project timelines are subject to change.

Groundbreaking Event
On July 17, 2025 the City of Kyle celebrated an exciting milestone — breaking ground on two major road projects from the 2022 Road Bond Program. Work is officially underway on the widening of Bebee Road and the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway, both designed to improve safety, connectivity, and traffic flow for our growing community.

Kyle has experienced unprecedented growth during the past decade, especially on the east side where new residential and commercial developments continue to expand. The current roadway cannot handle today's traffic volumes and is expected to see even greater demand in the future. The Bebee Road improvements will enhance safety and circulation with the addition of intersection improvements, sidewalks, landscaping, and drainage improvements, helping the City manage growth while maintaining a high quality of life for residents.

This project is being completed in two segments. The west segment, from IH 35 to Sunlight Boulevard, is currently under construction. Work began following the groundbreaking on July 17, 2025, and is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2027. The east segment, from Sunlight Boulevard to east of South Goforth Road, is currently in final design. Once design is complete, the project will move into the contractor selection phase, during which qualified contractors will submit construction proposals for City review. Construction on the east segment is anticipated to begin in Fall 2027 and be complete in Fall 2029.

The west segment between IH 35 and Sunlight Boulevard is currently active. Residents and drivers in this area can expect detour routes, lane reductions, construction equipment in the roadway, and traffic control operations through Summer 2027. Work near IH 35 may temporarily affect access to the frontage road during key construction phases and will be coordinated with TxDOT.
