Segment 1 (On-System): Early-Stage Design

The project’s design is currently 30% complete. The next set of design plans are at 60% completion and have been submitted and are under review by the City and its engineering team through October 30, 2026. A date has not yet been set for the design review meeting with TxDOT.

Segment 2 (Off-System): Construction

Work continues along the Kohlers corridor between the IH-35 northbound frontage road and Seton Parkway. Construction is now approximately 60% complete, up from 50% last week. Crews are making progress on roadway, bridge, utility and drainage improvements.

Current work includes relocating utilities, excavating and building retaining walls at stormwater detention ponds, installing curbs and gutters near the Seton bridge approach and making drainage improvements. Crews are also continuing construction of the Kohlers-Seton bridge, including preparing the roadway, building the retaining wall at the north end of the bridge, pouring concrete for the bridge deck and constructing an additional bridge span. Work on a concrete drainage structure is waiting for a conflicting utility pole to be relocated.

Upcoming work includes additional concrete pours for the bridge deck and construction of the bridge's concrete safety barriers and rails.

Overview

This project will extend Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, creating a new five lane overpass beneath I-35. The new roadway segment will continue as Kohlers Crossing. The work will be completed in two segments:

Segment 1 (On-System): an IH-35 overpass at Kohlers Crossing to extend to Segment 2 and connect to the existing Kohlers Crossing.

Segment 2 (Off-System, under construction): Extends Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, constructing an intersection improvement at the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road.

    • Location: IH 35 Southbound Frontage Road to IH 35 Northbound Frontage Road

    Segment 2 (Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway):

    • Length: 1.11 miles

    • Location: Kohlers Crossing at IH 35 Northbound Frontage Road to Seton Parkway

    • Widening of existing roadway to a five-lane underpass at IH 35

    • Roundabout at the intersection of the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road

    • Extending Seton parkway to connect with Kohlers Crossing under IH 35, creating a direct route to Seton Hospital

Groundbreaking Event

On July 17, 2025 the City of Kyle celebrated an exciting milestone — breaking ground on two major road projects from the 2022 Road Bond Program. Work is officially underway on the widening of Bebee Road and the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway, both designed to improve safety, connectivity, and traffic flow for our growing community.

Proposition A in the 2022 Road Bond Program includes eight roadway projects totaling 10.3 miles. These projects support current and long-term growth in the City of Kyle by increasing mobility, reducing congestion, enhancing safety, and strengthening community connectivity for drivers and pedestrians.   • The Kohlers Crossing and Seton Parkway corridors have experienced a significant increase in daily vehicle traffic. As a result, safety and mobility challenges have emerged, making travel through this corridor increasingly difficult. With the City of Kyle continuing to grow rapidly, there is a clear need to expand the roadway network to keep pace with this growth. The improvements will help the city meet current transportation demands while preparing for future traffic volumes. 

  • The Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway Extension Project is funded through the City of Kyle's 2022 Road Bond Program (Proposition A), approved by Kyle voters in November 2022. The five-lane IH 35 underpass is a significant infrastructure element that requires coordination with TxDOT and may result in temporary changes to frontage road access during key construction phases.
