Summer 2026

Segment 2 (Off-System) Construction

Construction continues along the Kohlers corridor between the IH-35 northbound frontage road and Seton Parkway, with work focused on roadway, bridge, and drainage infrastructure improvements. Ongoing activities include utility coordination and relocations, excavation and construction of pond retaining walls, stormwater outfall improvements, roadway embankment and drainage work at the Kohlers-Seton bridge. Current work also includes curb and gutter installation near the Seton bridge approach, sidewalk installation between the intersection and Bebee Road, duct bank installation, roadway illumination drill shaft foundations, and bridge panel installation.

Segment 1 (On-System): Early-Stage Design

Schematic design are at 90% completion. The final schematic was submitted on June 5, 2026, and transmitted to TxDOT on June 12, 2026. TxDOT’s combined review of the schematic and Interstate Access Justification Report remains ongoing following approval of the Intersection Control Evaluation report.

Overview

This project will extend Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, creating a new five lane overpass beneath I-35. The new roadway segment will continue as Kohlers Crossing. The work will be completed in two segments:

Segment 1 (On-System): an IH-35 overpass at Kohlers Crossing to extend to Segment 2 and connect to the existing Kohlers Crossing.

Segment 2 (Off-System, under construction): Extends Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, constructing an intersection improvement at the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road.

  • Segment 1 (IH 35 Overpass at Kohlers Crossing):

    • Length: 0.13

    • Location: IH 35 Southbound Frontage Road to IH 35 Northbound Frontage Road

    Segment 2 (Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway):

    • Length: 1.11 miles

    • Location: Kohlers Crossing at IH 35 Northbound Frontage Road to Seton Parkway

    • Widening of existing roadway to a five-lane underpass at IH 35

    • Roundabout at the intersection of the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road

    • Extending Seton parkway to connect with Kohlers Crossing under IH 35, creating a direct route to Seton Hospital

  • Construction funded by the City of Kyle’s 2022 Road Bond

    Total Project Cost = $66.1 M

  • Segment 1 (On-System) IH 35 Overpass at Kohlers Crossing:

    • Construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2027 and be completed by Fall 2029

    Segment 2 (Off-System) Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway:

    • Construction began in Summer 2025 and is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2027

Groundbreaking Event

On July 17, 2025 the City of Kyle celebrated an exciting milestone — breaking ground on two major road projects from the 2022 Road Bond Program. Work is officially underway on the widening of Bebee Road and the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway, both designed to improve safety, connectivity, and traffic flow for our growing community.

The project will be completed in two segments: Segment 1 (On-System): an IH-35 overpass at Kohlers Crossing to extend Segment 2 and connect to the existing Kohlers Crossing. Segment 2 (Off-System): extending Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, constructing an intersection improvement at the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road.  

  • The project extends from IH 35 Southbound Frontage Road to Seton Parkway. Improvements include extending Seton Parkway to connect with Kohlers Crossing via a five-lane underpass at IH 35 and constructing a roundabout at the intersection with Bebee Road.

    • Improve drainage infrastructure through culvert upgrades and new curb and gutter construction, helping reduce flooding and protect the roadway 

  • The Kohlers Crossing and Seton Parkway corridors have experienced a significant increase in daily vehicle traffic. As a result, safety and mobility challenges have emerged, making travel through this corridor increasingly difficult. With the City of Kyle continuing to grow rapidly, there is a clear need to expand the roadway network to keep pace with this growth. The improvements will help the city meet current transportation demands while preparing for future traffic volumes.

The five-lane IH 35 underpass is a significant infrastructure element that requires coordination with TxDOT and may result in temporary changes to frontage road access during key construction phases.
