Project Updates

Summer 2026

Segment 2 (Off-System): Construction

Construction continues along the Kohlers corridor between the IH-35 northbound frontage road and Seton Parkway, with work focused on roadway, bridge, utility, and drainage improvements. Ongoing activities include utility coordination and relocations, excavation and construction of pond retaining walls, and excavation of a stormwater detention pond. Work also includes roadway embankment and stormwater drainage pipe installation at the Kohlers-Seton bridge, curb and gutter installation at the Seton bridge approach, and pre-stressed panel installation over the added bridge span. Crews are also working on reinforced concrete pipe culvert installation, mechanically stable earth wall construction, and tying bridge slab steel.

Upcoming work includes electrical wire installation near Seton/CTC and construction of the Kohlers bridge deck and concrete rails.

Segment 1 (On-System): Early-Stage Design

The schematic design remains at 90% completion. Additional TxDOT schematic review comments received on August 13, 2026, were addressed and returned to TxDOT on August 27, 2026. The project team is awaiting schematic approval from TxDOT. The revised Interstate Access Justification Report was previously submitted on August 6, 2026, and the Intersection Control Evaluation report has been approved. The 60% design plans have also been submitted and are under engineering consultant and City review.

Overview

This project will extend Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, creating a new five lane overpass beneath I-35. The new roadway segment will continue as Kohlers Crossing. The work will be completed in two segments:

Segment 1 (On-System): an IH-35 overpass at Kohlers Crossing to extend to Segment 2 and connect to the existing Kohlers Crossing.

Segment 2 (Off-System, under construction): Extends Kohlers Crossing to connect with Seton Parkway, constructing an intersection improvement at the new Kohlers extension and Bebee Road.
