News & Events

  • The City of Kyle will be hosting a community open house on July 29th at Lehman High School from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

This event will cover both road bond and general city project updates, including a Utility District update. City staff, project engineers, and city leaders will be available to answer questions and discuss how these projects are improving mobility and infrastructure across Kyle.

  • Here's the road bond projects next in line for contractor bidding and then construction:

    • Kyle Parkway - Lehman Road Extension

    • Old Stagecoach Road

    • Old Stagecoach North

    • Center Street (East Segment)

The contractor bidding phase is when the finalized project plans are advertised and qualified contractors submit competitive bids to construct the improvements. After reviewing the bids for responsiveness, cost, and experience, the City selects a contractor and prepares to move into construction.

  • Beginning Wednesday, June 17, and continuing through Saturday, October 31, Bebee Road will be temporarily closed at IH-35 as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured through the new IH-35/Kohlers Crossing intersection and along the Kohlers Crossing extension, reconnecting with Bebee Road west of Republic Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic.

Access to Lakeside Crossing from Bebee Road will remain open during this phase of construction.

The work being done on Bebee Road includes widening it from two lanes to four with a center turn lane, the addition of drainage, curbs, and sidewalks along both sides.

Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Please follow all posted traffic control devices, watch for construction crews and equipment, and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

  • A Community Initiative on the Move; Heritage Live Oak Tree Prepares for Relocation

The Old Stagecoach Heritage Tree was carefully relocated to a new pocket park a quarter mile from its current home as part of Kyle's voter-approved road bond improvements. Following a 100-day expert preparation process, crews began the move in November 2025, with a 24-month aftercare plan to follow. The decision reflects the community's input and the City's commitment to preserving Kyle's history while keeping road projects on track. Read the full story for more information.

  • Connecting Kyle: Marketplace Ave Extension Now Open

The Marketplace Avenue Extension — the first completed project under Kyle's 2022 Road Bond — is now open to drivers. The new 0.6-mile segment connects Old Bridge Trail to Kohlers Crossing, closing a long-standing gap in the city's road network and expanding the corridor from three to four lanes between FM 1626 and Old Bridge Trail. The community celebrated with a ribbon cutting and block party before the road opened to traffic. It's the first of eight Proposition A projects that together will deliver over 10 miles of roadway improvements across Kyle. Read the full story for more on what's ahead.

  • Two Critical Road Bond Projects East of I-35 Under Construction

In July 2025, the City of Kyle broke ground on two more road bond projects east of I-35 — the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway and the widening of Bebee Road. The Kohlers Crossing extension stretched approximately 1.07 miles to create a direct connection from I-35 to Seton Hospital, while Bebee Road was expanded to four lanes between the I-35 northbound frontage and Sunlight Boulevard, including a new roundabout at the Bebee/Kohlers intersection. These marked the second and third of eight projects to break ground under the 2022 Road Bond Program. Read the full article for project details and scope.

  • What’s Going on with the Stagecoach Road Heritage Live Oak Tree

In July 2025, the City of Kyle announced plans to relocate the Stagecoach Road Heritage Live Oak Tree ahead of planned roadway improvements funded through the 2022 Road Bond. The tree, a beloved community landmark, sat within six inches of the Old Stagecoach Road pavement edge — too close to survive the construction without intervention. Following a 6-1 City Council vote to relocate rather than remove it, Texas-based tree transplantation specialist EDI began a 100-day pretreatment process in late July, with the physical move scheduled for Fall 2025. Read the full article for details on the relocation plan and what the pretreatment process entailed.
